A sexual assault accusation can move fast once you know about it. Police have often spent weeks gathering texts, interviews, and forensic evidence before an arrest ever happens, so by the time you learn you are under investigation, much of the state’s case may already be built. Some people find out through a phone call from a detective. Others learn about it when officers show up at their door with a warrant. Either way, you need to know where you stand right now, and what to do before that case is finished.
Our Cypress criminal defense lawyer team includes former Harris County prosecutors. They once decided whether police evidence was strong enough to file charges like this one. That experience now works for you, not against you, when it comes time to challenge what the state has built and push back on weak or one-sided evidence.
Contact Haddad & Timmons and tell us what happened. Our team of skilled Cypress assault lawyers will walk through the evidence with you, explain what could happen next, and tell you what your options are before you talk to anyone else.

Sexual assault cases cover a wide range of situations. Consent, not whether contact took place, is usually the real question at the center of the case, and we build a defense around the specific facts of your situation. Some of the cases we handle include:
We review the timeline, the messages exchanged, and the accuser’s own statements before deciding how to respond.
Decisions made in the first few days of an investigation often shape everything that follows, so early involvement matters.

Texas treats sexual assault as one of the most serious types of criminal offenses. Under Texas Penal Code § 22.011, sexual assault is typically charged as a second-degree felony. Under Texas Penal Code § 12.33, that felony level carries 2 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. A weapon, a serious injury, or a minor victim can raise the charge to a first-degree felony, which carries a much longer sentence.
A conviction also brings mandatory sex offender registration, which can limit where you live, where you work, and how you travel. For sexual assault, Texas law requires you to register for life.
Additionally, a conviction can affect child custody arrangements, professional licenses you have worked to earn, and immigration status for anyone who is not a citizen. Even an arrest alone, without a conviction, can show up on background checks that employers and landlords run.
These results come directly from real cases our firm has handled for clients facing serious felony criminal allegations in Harris County.

Yes. Police often investigate sexual assault allegations for weeks before making an arrest. Getting an attorney involved early gives you a chance to respond to the investigation instead of reacting after charges are already filed, when far fewer options remain.
Cypress falls under both Harris County Precinct 4 and Precinct 5, split by Cypress Creek, so the constable’s office that responds depends on which side of Cypress the incident occurred on. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office also has jurisdiction throughout the area. Felony cases then move to the Harris County Criminal Justice Center on Franklin Street for prosecution.
Yes. Dismissals happen when the evidence does not support the charge, a witness statement changes, or the investigation was flawed. Our firm has secured dismissals for clients facing serious felony allegations in Harris County.
False allegations happen for many reasons, including custody disputes, breakups, and personal conflict. We look closely at the accuser’s account, the timeline, and the circumstances behind the claim to build a defense around what happened.
You are not required to answer questions or give a statement without an attorney there. Anything you say to the police can be used to build the case against you, so it is best to have representation lined up before any interview.
Your first appearance is usually called a magistration hearing. A magistrate reads you the charge, advises you of your legal rights, and sets bond. We prepare you for this step in advance so nothing about the courtroom catches you off guard.
